Pony Club

Phillips Equine is proud to be part of the New Zealand Pony Clubs Association (NZPCA), a not-for-profit youth organisation for those passionate about horses and riding. Pony Club offers structured instruction in riding and horse care, helping young riders gain national qualifications while building confidence, discipline, and good sportsmanship. Through rallies, events, and competitions, Pony Club provides a supportive environment for riders to learn, grow, and enjoy all aspects of equestrian sport.

RALLIES

Rallies are the heart of Pony Club! A working rally is a fun, structured session where riders learn and develop their skills. It can be mounted or unmounted—unmounted rallies focus on horse and pony care, while mounted rallies follow a plan suited to each rider’s level. Every rally includes a safety check, a riding lesson, a horse management session, and engaging activities or games to keep learning fun.

CERTIFICATES

Pony Club certificates are a great way to learn, improve, and celebrate your progress with friends! They give riders a fun challenge and motivation to build their skills at every level. Members work towards their certificates at rallies and can take exams every couple of years to test their knowledge. With certificates available for all ages and abilities, there’s always something new to achieve!

BUILDING CONFIDENT RIDERS

Phillips Equine builds horse riders. Our purpose-built facilities are set up for educating riders and training horses. Ride one of our lovely natured horses or your own pony.

Located in the peaceful country atmosphere of Matangi. Our unique property is set on 50 acres, with the stables situated 1 km from the road entrance. With no road frontage, it creates a quiet, private and secure environment for both horses and riders.

Our highest priority is for you to learn the skills you need to ride and take care of horses.

Ride in our all-weather arenas which are equipped with show jumps and dressage markers.

We often go for a short pleasure rides around the farm, or schooling over spars and cross country fences, giving us a fun opportunity to extend in a completely different environment.
